Welcome! I’m Kate, founder and designer of BGLY Brooches, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

I’m an Aussie at heart, but at 30 I swapped the beaches of Australia for the cobblestones of Europe… and never looked back.

My story with brooches began when my grandmother gifted me my very first one. She had a collection of her own, each with its own story, and I was captivated by how something so small could hold so much character. That moment sparked a lifelong passion, one I still nurture today by collecting brooches, especially in the antique markets of Milan, where I’m always searching for hidden treasures.

Alongside that love, I grew up in my family’s menswear store, proudly run in our name for over 30 years. I started behind the scenes, labelling and stocking clothes, then moved to working behind the counter, and even preparing the Christmas punch during the late-night shopping openings. It was there I learned that the right accessory doesn’t just complete a look, it defines it.

For over two decades, I built a career in finance, working with some of the world’s most recognisable brands such as Uber, Nike, and Booking.com, leading global finance transformations and managing operations. I’ve always loved taking something complex and making it simple, strategic, and sustainable.

But a journey, and a career, doesn’t stop in one place. Now, I’m at a stage in my life where I can focus on my true passion: men’s fashion and design. That passion became the spark for BGLY: a line of luxury men’s brooches designed to bring craftsmanship, style, and confidence to every look.

When I’m not building businesses or creating new designs, you’ll probably find me walking along the beaches of Málaga, horse riding, exploring new countries, practising a new language, or perfecting my tiramisu recipe (a dangerous skill, according to friends).

No matter what I’m doing, my approach is always the same: precision, creativity, and having fun.

Customer care guide

Cleaning

  • Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils and residue.
  • Use a lukewarm solution of pH-neutral soap and water. Rinse lightly and dry thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners, silver polish, or strong chemicals — they can damage the gold plating and silver beneath.

Storage

  • Keep your brooch in its BGLY pouch or a lined jewelry box, away from other pieces to prevent scratches.
  • Avoid storing in humid spaces. Chlorine, salt water, and prolonged moisture can tarnish silver and dull gold plating.

Protection

  • Wear your brooch after applying fragrance, hair products, or lotion. Remove it before swimming, exercising, or sleeping.
  • Sweat and natural oils can wear plating over time — remove during intense activity.

Extra Care

  • Give each piece time to rest between wears.
  • Avoid dropping or knocking it against hard surfaces.
  • If the finish begins to fade, a jeweler can professionally replate the gold and polish the silver beneath.

Each BGLY brooch is crafted from solid 925 sterling silver, finished in 18k gold, and set with precision-cut lab-grown gemstones — chemically and optically identical to the finest mined gems, yet created with a fraction of the environmental impact. The result is uncompromising beauty with a mindful footprint.
